NUAA-NUS “3+1+1” Joint Educational Program

Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) acting through its College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (NUAA-CMEE), National University of Singapore, acting through its Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering (NUS-ME) and NUS (Suzhou) Research Institute (NUSRI) have agreed to collaborate to establish a joint educational framework that will allow Bachelor students from NUAA-CMEE to complete their final year of undergraduate studies by attending a bridging course at NUSRI and thereafter, to pursue their one (1) year Masters of Science (M.Sc.) program at NUS-ME. This program starts from April, 2020.

1. Requirements for Registration

  • Suitable junior student candidates from NUAA-CMEE applying this program whose average score for the first five semesters must no less than 82.

  • Students must complete the one-year bridging course at NUSRI and meeting all the academic requirements set by NUAA.

  • Students must have an English Language Competence Certificate to IELTS level 6 or over, TOFEL score at least 85, and the score will be within expiration date when they apply the Master program in NUS-ME.

2. Education Pattern

The Program takes 3+1+1 pattern for Chinese full-time students from NUAA-CMEE. The suitable Year 3 candidates with good academic standing from NUAA-CMEE will be selected to spend a bridging period at NUSRI during their 4th year, i.e. for the first “+1” year. This immersion prepares them both in the aspect of English writing and communication skill as well as Mechanical Engineering domain knowledge, before they can apply for M.Sc. admission, i.e. for the second “+1” year.

3. Degree

NUSRI will assess the students’ performance in the bridging courses. Upon the students completing their course modules, NUSRI will send academic transcripts of their bridging courses to NUAA-CMEE, for the purpose of academic course credit transfer in partial fulfilment of the requirements for obtaining NUAA’s B.Sc. degree. NUSRI will offer a certificate to confirm the students’ attendance of the bridging courses; The students to be admitted into the NUS-ME M.Sc. program must have passed the bridging course to the satisfaction of NUSRI, and have met the M.Sc. admission criteria set by the NUS Faculty of Engineering (NUS-FoE). Upon completing their one (1) year Master of Science (M.Sc.) program at NUS-ME, if they meet all the requirements set by NUS-ME, these students will be awarded the M.Sc. degree from NUS.
